Introduction to SAP BI
SAP BI stands for Business Intelligence. SAP BI is a
platform and toolkit for businesses, and provides solutions that gives
companies power over their business results. It includes simulation to help forecast
outcomes and capabilities for a company to do broad preparation. SAP BI
simplifies data manipulation, allowing users to access, navigate, analyze,
format, and share information across a corporate environment.
1) Define Data integrity?
Ans: Data Integrity is nothing but to eliminating duplicate
entries in the database. In a single word it means no duplicate data.
2) How can we translate an info package group into process
chain?
Ans: By double Clicking on the info package group, click on the Process
Chain button and type the name and description. The individual info packages
are inserted automatically.
3) What is the use of process chain?
Ans: Process Chain is used as an automate data load
process. It is used to automate all the processes including data load and all administrative
tasks like creation deletion, Cube compression etc. It is also used for highly
controlled data loading.
4) How can we optimize the dimensions?
Ans: We have to classify as many dimensions as possible and we
have to take care that no particular dimension crosses more than 20% of the
fact table size.
5) What is the differentiation between ODS and Info Cube and
Multi Provider?
Ans: ODS provides rough data which allows overwrite and data is
in transparent tables, ideal for drilldown and RRI.
Info CUBE follows the star schema; we can only attach data,
ideal for primary reporting.
Multi Provider does not have physical data. It allows only
to access data from different Info Providers like Cube, ODS, Info Object. It is
also chosen for reporting.
6) Define fact table?
Ans: Fact table is the collection of facts and relations that
means foreign keys with the dimension. Generally fact table holds transcriptional
data.
7) Define dimension table?
Ans: Dimension table is a collection of logically related
descriptive attributes that means characteristics.
8) Define index?
Ans: Indices/Indexes are used to locate required records in a
database table quickly. BW uses two types of indices, B tree indices for
regular database tables and bitmap indices for fact tables and collective
tables.
9) What are the steps to LO Extraction?
Ans: The following are the steps for LO extraction:
- RSA5 Select the Data Sources
- LBWE Maintain Data Sources and Activate Extract Structures
- LBWG Delete Setup Tables
- 0LI*BW Setup tables
- RSA3 Check extraction and the data in Setup tables
- LBWQ Check the extraction queue
- LBWF Log for LO Extract Structures
- RSA7 BW Delta Queue Monitor
10) What is the difference between Display Attribute and
Navigational Attribute?
Ans: The major difference between these two are; navigational
attributes can be used to drilldown in a Bex report whereas display attributes
cannot be used.
A navigational
attribute would function more or less like a characteristic within a cube.
The only difference is that navigation attributes can be
used for navigation in queries, like filtering, drill-down etc.
